thinking about the project's environmental impact was the starting point for materialising the concept. the use of wood almost in its entirety - except the metal hinge system, which was chosen for its resistance, the extended life of the components and their easy dismantling - and the design of simple, linear shapes that avoid wasting raw materials, optimise processes and shorten the production chain, guarantee a reduction in the product's impact. at the same time, the piece's compact design helps minimise the need for reinforcements and fillers when packing it, and its stackability facilitates and optimises transport, which helps combat the waste of materials and co2 consumption associated with this stage of the process. finally, when it reaches the end consumer and thanks to its modular and multifunctional nature, muta will contribute to its user's living environment.
