#art #social #2019/ ![[refugees.png]] some [71.4 million](https://www.unhcr.org/media/unhcr-global-report-2017) people were displaced in 2017, escaping war, violence and persecution in countries such as the *central african republic, the democratic republic of congo, iraq, myanmar, south sudan and the syrian arab republi*c. torn from their homes and pushed across borders, many fled to save their lives - unfortunately, many of those seeking refuge and safety abroad faced closed borders and restrictive admission policies. this project is a collage made from fragments of paper from newspapers and magazines that aims to create a reflection on the refugee crisis. it seeks to convey the brutality of this cruel reality, making this work an act of aggression where the idea of movement and death collide in an image full of closed borders. ![[João_Barroso_2.jpg]]
